As part of the new Junior cycle students study a new area of learning called Wellbeing. The JC Guidelines defines Student Wellbeing as:
“Student well-being is present when students realize their abilities, take care of their physical wellbeing, can cope with the normal stresses of life, and have a sense of purpose and belonging to a wider community” (P17).
All members of the school community are responsible for the promotion of positive wellbeing, “Everyone within each school, regardless of the level and frequency of contact they have with young people, shares the responsibility for creating a positive ethos and climate of respect and care –one in which everyone can make a positive contribution to the wellbeing of each individual within the school and to the wider community” (P27).
Your child’s wellbeing is of central importance to their educational success and overall happiness. Wellbeing will be a core part of your child’s junior cycle experience. This area of learning includes, amongst others, PE, CSPE, SPHE incl. RSE and Guidance.
